PENNY FROUDE boccia uk/s talent transition squad

She is a three-time England Champion and made her debut for Boccia UK in 2022.
Competing at the Challenger event in Heraklion, Greece, Penny finished fourth. She also won a UK Challenger in 2022.
Her advice to someone starting out in the sport of boccia is, “be patient, don’t be afraid to try new things, watch experienced players as much as you can, learn what works for you. Don’t worry if others are playing better than you - you’ll get there.”
Penny also showed huge potential in another sport. She used to compete in rifle and pistol shooting and, after winning a competition against disabled and non-disabled shooters, she was invited to a GB Talent Camp. However, it coincided with her joining the Boccia England team and so she decided to focus on boccia, and just shoot for fun.
She has experience of coaching children in boccia for the Surrey Youth Games and she also ran the boccia section of a club in Maidenhead for almost three years, encouraging more people to play the game.
